Overview
The Joystick (formerly The Bono) is a prosthetic used for sex that includes a penis sheath, vibrator, and reservoir. What makes this prosthetic stand out is its clever design and ability to make the wearer feel like the prosthetic is part of them. With the Joystick, you do not use a traditional harness, instead you use custom underwear (that you can make yourself!). The vibrator stimulates you directly, and the prosthetic moves with you as if it was part of you. It’s truly a beautiful thing!
I wish I could give this product more than just 5/5 star rating. I know that sounds dramatic, but I have had this prosthetic since 2016 and it is still, to this day, my absolutely favourite prosthetic to use for sex. This product not only changed the way I had sex, it changed the way I masturbated, and the way I felt about my body. I didn’t even realize the amount of dysphoria I had until I used this product and everything just felt….quiet in my head? No idea if that makes sense, but it’s how I experienced it.

Also, I want to make a super important note. I am absolutely aware that this prosthetic does not work for everyone. I’ve recommended it to people countless time and I would say around 10% of people hated it, and 10% thought it was just ok. Ejaculating Prosthetic for Sex with No Harness Needed!
The Great
- Attention to detail – Realistic proportions of an erect penis.
- Motion – When you move, it moves. It really feels like this prosthetic is part of your body!
- Masturbating – Because the placement of the vibe is directly on your junk, jacking off with it feels amazing! The cum reservoir is an added bonus because when you cum, you can squirt the tip and any liquid you added in there will ejaculate! What a sight!
- Anal – Good option for anal as long as the vibe is secured.
The Not-so-Great
- Vibe Issues – In the past, the vibes have had a lot of issues with durability and not lasting more than a year. They have gotten better over the years, but still.
- Fading – The more you clean it, the more the detailed paint goes away.
- Price – This is not the most budget-friendly prosthetic out there

Vibrator:
The black vibrator goes directly into the sheath and fits snuggly. It is recommended to use a condom on the vibe before putting it in the sheath as the silicone components might cause the vibe and/or Joystick to melt. It is water resistant and there is one button that controls the on/off as well as the speed/pattern of the vibe. You have the option to add-on (for $$$) a wireless remote to control the vibe. It’s a pretty cool feature to have but it’s not something you need if you’re fine pressing the button on the vibe. The bulb at the end of the vibe is used to stimulate the wearer and to attach to an underwear-type-harness (which you can buy from Transthetics, or make yourself).
Vibe Generations
Fun fact, this is the Joystick’s 4th generation vibe! In the past, the red colored vibes had issues with charging and the long top part would often disconnect from the bulb.
The vibe still worked, but charging it and aligning the buttons was a nightmare! Thankfully, those issues have been rectified with their newest version (the black vibe). The newer vibes do NOT fit in the older Joystick sheaths, however, Transthetics provides an adaptor free of charge!
Reservoir:
The reservoir is a small component at the tip of the Joystick housed in the head. It is used for squirting water, lube, or cum-like substance during sex, masturbation, or just for fun. The Joystick comes with a syringe (no needle) that you can use to add any liquid into the reservoir. Surprisingly, if you practice a little, you can really get the liquid to shoot out of there quite far! Also, fun fact, when you add any type of liquid to the reservoir, it actually makes the prosthetic harder!
No Harness Needed
You do not need a regular harness to use this prosthetic, instead, you can either buy the Transthetics Budgie underwear, or modify underwear that you already have! Having this type of harness honestly helps a lot with feeling where the prosthetic is going because you are in control. When you move, it moves. You can feel the pulling and the pushing directly on your junk, it’s fantastic.
Stimulating Add-On
For an additional $$$, you can add a little spiky silicone stimulator for the bulb of your vibe. This helps stimulate the wearer even more by giving extra texture. This is a nice feature to have if you like a little texture on your peen. I like it occasionally.
Color
The Joystick is available in three (3) colors, light medium, and dark, and comes with a detailed paint job that adds veins and accentuates the head of the penis. I just so disappointed by the lack of darker shades. I’ve been over 7 years now and I really just want to see a little more effort in making darker shades. In person, the “darkest” shade is “medium brown” at most. I hate it.

Fading
The Joysticks paint job will fade overtime with use (sex) and cleaning. In order to try to avoid this fading as long as possible, always use a condom when having sex. However, please do not avoid cleaning this prosthetic even if you use a condom. Cleaning is always good!
Feeling (Touch)
This prosthetic is not made with dual-texture silicone, which means the top layer of skin does not move. It does not feel like real skin, however, if you have it in your pants or underwear and you grab it, it really feels like a real hard penis.
Sex/Masturbating

Wearing the Joystick and penetrating someone is magical. Being penetrated by the Joystick is magical. Masturbating with the Joystick is magical, what more can I say?
The prosthetic does not require a regular harness, instead, they recommend using briefs or tight boxer briefs. You can either make your own or buy it from their website. Because this is not secured in a regular harness, you really control the Joysticks movements. This makes sex great because you can tell when you’re penetrating the person a little, or a lot, because you’re able to feel it.
Being Penetrated
Being the person on the receiving end of the Joystick is also very thrilling because the prosthetic feels realistically like a hard penis and it’s great to see the person penetrating you move in and out and being able to feel every single motion and movement they make, It makes for much more intimate sexy times!
Masturbating
Before the Joystick, I never knew I needed a prosthetic that could squirt something out of it. When I met the Joystick and I took it for a solo-spin in my bathroom, I didn’t think my life was going to change forever. I know this sound dramatic, however, jacking off with it as the vibe was on was amazing. I was truly able to connect the prosthetic to my body in my mind. It was no longer a prosthetic, it was now part of me. Needless to say, as I was getting ready to finish, I squirted out the cum-like liquid I had put in the reservoir and it was exhilarating. How to Use It
I will demonstrate this with photos. In my opinion, the best way to use The Joystick is with modified underwear (either that you have modified yourself or that you bought from Transthetics). The underwear will have a little elastic loop to hold the vibe. It doesn’t look secure, but trust me, it is. After using this prosthetic for over 6 years, it’s only fallen out of the loop maybe…. 3 times?
Slip the underwear on and pull the joystick out a little. You’ll then want to put the underwear UNDER the joystick like so (pretend the blue underwear don’t exist, this is just so you don’t see my junk):
Again, I know it looks flimsy, but trust me. Once you are on top (or bottom) of someone, it really stabilizes.
Packing
The Joystick has been marketed as a prosthetic that you can pack with, however, even with the official Transthetics Budgie undies, it’s not all that possible. The prosthetic itself is already semi-rigid without the vibe inside of it, so packing with it just looks massive and very erect. Packing with it everyday and using it as a packer is a no-go, however, if you’re planning on going out one night and you’re feeling lucky, then yes! You can. Just make sure you practice walking around and dancing at home before going out!
Something to note: I once wore this out to the club with the vibe and sheath on and it was very uncomfortable so I decided to just keep the underwear on. The small elastic part of the underwear where the vibe gets attached to kept rubbing up against my peen and it was very uncomfortable. Luckily, now the Transthetics Budgie underwear have a little compartment where you can stick the little elastic part so it doesn’t rub against your junk!

Real Feel Test™
The proportions of the Joystick are great and very realistic. The only non-realistic aspect is that there are no balls.
The Joystick does not have a skin-like feel in the sense that the skin does not move. However, in terms of feeling like an erect penis. Yes.
Absolutely without a doubt feels like a nice erection through underwear or pants.
Feels like a peen penetrating you! I have been penetrated by the Joystick more times than I can count and still, to this day, it amazes me just how real it feels.

Cleaning and Care
I recommend cleaning this product before and after each use.
The 100% silicone component makes this prosthetic easy to clean and sterilize. The easiest way to clean this product is with hot soapy water. If you need to sterilize this product (which we recommend doing at least once a week), put it in a boiling pot of water for 3-5 minutes. Because this product is made of 100% silicone, boiling it is 100% safe.
I’ve been using this prosthetic for years and it has never become sticky for me. However, If you find that the Joystick is tacky/sticky after cleaning it, I always recommend using cornstarch (or other rejuvenating powders) to maintain a smooth and silky texture.
Keep in mind that the more you clean it, the more the paint job will fade. The prosthetic itself is already colored with a certain skin shade, however the company adds extra paint on top of the silicone. This paint eventually fades (especially with cleaning).
*Please do not use talcum powder (most commonly found in baby powder), it has been associated with different types of cancers, mostly ovarian cancer. We have a full article on the dangers of talcum power here.
Storage
I recommend storing the Joystick in its original black fabric bag. Do not store the vibe inside the Joystick. Do not store the vibe in the same bag/touching the Joystick. Make sure they are separated at all times (except during sex). Sometimes, silicone prosthetics can start to melt/morph together and this is NOT something you want to happen!
If you do not store your Joystick properly, it will diminish its life-span and looks.
Full Rating
The Joystick is made of 100% Silicone and if you clean and store it correctly, it will last years! The only thing that will not last years and years is the vibe. Seriously, care for that vibe like your life depends on it and you should be fine!
Not a good idea to use this as an everyday packer. It’s just not comfortable for that. However, if you plan to go out to the clubs and you think you might get lucky, then have at it! Just keep in mind that it will look like a boner 👀
At $295, this really isn’t the most budget-friendly option out there when it comes to prosthetics for sex. However, if you’re looking for something that moves with you while you’re having sex, this might be something to invest in for your sex life and to ease dysphoria!
Am I allowed to give a 8/5 rating for sex? The website won’t let me but let me just say, sex with this prosthetic is an absolute TREAT. From penetrating, to being penetrated, front or back (or both! – just clean between changing holes!), it’s perfect.
Again, can I give this a 10/5 rating because the vibe pulsating on your junk while you jack off and then the reservoir shooting up cum-resembling-substance is out of this world amazing!
Final Thoughts
On a personal note, I’ve had the Joystick since 2016 and it is still my all time favorite prosthetic for sex. I’ve gone through multiple vibes over the years, but it’s been worth it. This prosthetic has eased my dysphoria more than any other prosthetic out there. I absolutely recommend it 100%. I don’t often say this about prosthetics, but this one is near-perfect. Really, the 3 things I wish they could improve would be: darker skin tone, more realistic skin-like, moveable texture, and to perfect the vibe. The black one is so much better than the red ones by a long shot. The black one is seemless, so it doesn’t disconnect like the red ones did, which makes it last longer. Over time, taking in and out of the Joystick, I did notice the inside of the vibe started to come undone. It just makes the vibe a little less stable, but still usable. If only they could fix those 3 things, this prosthetic would be PERFECT. But, its close enough!
Little extra anecdote:
I recommended this prosthetic to a good friend of mine and after they used it a couple of times, they were disappointed. I was super sad for them because I hoped that it would be helpful so I went through some of the details and found out they were using a regular harness with it. This makes the experience not as great, in my opinion. I described in detail (as I do in this review), how to use the underwear harness instead and how to use it properly. I was so happy when they came back to me and told me how much the underwear worked better and now they love the prosthetic.
The point of this story is, if it doesn’t work 100% the first time, that’s okay. there will ALWAYS be trial and error when it comes to a new type of prosthetic. Especially a type of prosthetic that has never existed before. So take your time, give yourself some time to adjust, you got this.
